SURFACE MODELLING EXERCISE
PREcEDENTS OF A TECHTONIC ELEMENT
This pavilion is a vernue for who want to listen music, enjoy live performances.
This is ephemeral structure, this design of an micro-architecture living only a season.
The design of the 2016 edition of the Serpentine Pavilion, conceive by the acclaimed Danish practive, which can build quickly and have limited budget. The idea generated by "waping" a wall made of only two elements, bricks and joints.

FINAL PHYSICAL MODEL

My prototype component is one square which has four cuts; it can connect all edges each other, The positive things is that the way of shape and join can make the structure freely, and easy to duplicate. The negative side was when I did the prototype. I need to make efforts how the component joins together,  connect all 4 sides is difficult. It also restricts materials which must have flexibility.

CONCEPT 1
My concept is "sea wave.” Water surface flow in the room. The shape of main exhibition room is a rectangle. Imagined "sea wave" flow from west side to the east side. The structure combined surface features which are flow and dynamic. Meanwhile, made the surface  have layering, People stand in the room, may feel overwhelming

FINAL PREcEDENTS OF RICHARD SERRA
I research the precedent which is Richard Serra. He used the massive metal plate to create the minimalist, abstract sculpture. Inspired me is Richard Serra think sculpture not just a beautiful isolate object, it should connect with space and audience.
Like tilted arc, this giant sculpture put on the federal, people first-time noticed this space which people walk every day, increased interaction with area and building. And the slightly mental plate give an unstable sense, effect people feeling constantly.
Richard Serra used a simple curve, to let people notice this space again, have the new experience.
This is inspired me. Also the arc often used in Richard Serra works, when people walk in, the mental feeling changed following with arc changing.  To motive people experience.
PROCESS
I used this concept and looking for the Richard Serra, develop different space arrangement
